The Family Outreach Program is funded by the Department of Children and Families. Mercy Center’s Family Outreach Coordinator provides support, supervision and training to Family Workers of the Asbury Park and Neptune preschool centers. Family Workers serve as links between the families and the preschool. Through their ongoing supportive relationship with the families, Family Workers help equip parents with the skills needed to educate, nurture and protect their children . An important part of their role is to reduce stress on the family by being available to help families locate and use local community resources and services. Family Workers receive credentialing through Rutgers University, in the Center for Families’ Family Development Credentialing Program.
